The Yambong Singalila range is one of the rare spots on earth where the view embraces five summits rising above 7000m, amongst them Everest, Makalu and Lhotse of Nepal, Mt. Khangchendzonga, Mt. sinolchu in Sikkim. You will trek on the narrow paths adjacent to Indo-Nepali border, sometimes at the edge of the jungle, sometimes through rhododendron forests. The visit to some of famous lakes will give a blend touch of both nature and culture which make the journey a rare venture. As the name depicts" Yambong Singalila is the main mountain that connects the sikkim Himalaya range to Darjeeling hills and Nepal and eventually separates them. Yambong Singalila range is one of the many ranges to provides shelter to many endangered wild animals. It officially falls under Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve and shares a very close boundary with Khangchendzonga National Park at Gomothang. Here globally endangered animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Tahr, Blue Sheep, Himalayan Black Bear and spectacular pheasants like Satyr Tragopan, Himalayan Monal and Blood Pheasant flourish and roam. It is also recorded to have witnessed highest population of Himalayan Griffon Vulture roaming in Sikkim. Its elevation ranging from 1800 to 8583 meters above mean sea level consisting of lower hill, middle and higher hills, alpine zones and snow bound land. The highest elevation 8583 meters being the top of the Mt. Khangchendzonga which also means'Abode of the Gods consisting of five Treasure houses. The mighty Khangchendzonga offers brilliant mountain scenery, healthier and invigorating climate. The snowy winter and cooler summer serve to invite many of you to this tiny hill. Yambong is a place where fusion of culture is distinctly visible. This valley almost has everything which a tourist can dream of as a land of fairs and festivals, snow-clad mountains, holy lakes and peaks, holy caves, pilgrims spot, living local culture, pleasant valley flora and fauna and amazingly a century old stonewalls decorated with Buddhist script can still be seen at Golaghar Yambong and so on.
